You can begin using the shopping cart with Paypal pro by signing up for an account. The process to register will allow you to transfer the funds directly into your bank account and will require steps to complete securely. You will need to have an SSL certificate setup on your cart for Paypal Pro to work.
1) Login to PayPal and go Profile >> API Access >> Request API Credentials and apply for the SSL Client-Side Certificate as shown below.

2) Next you will receive an e-mail form PayPal stating your API certificate is ready to use.

4) Next download or copy/paste your API certificate and save it to your computer. Also record your API username and API password.
5) Next, login to your cart and activate the PayPal Pro Payment gateway within the cart by going to Cart Settings as shown below.

6) Next click on Payment Methods as shown below.

7) Click on Enable/Add Gateway and select Paypal Pro as shown below.

8) Enter in your API Username and API Password into the cart as shown below. Your Paypal Username and Password will not work. (Pinnacle 3.3.x users, enter in the API Username and API Password into the username and password blanks.)

9) Upload your certificate to the server by clicking on the "browse" button under the Payment Server Settings. (Pinnacle 3.3.x users, you will need to go to File Manager and go to content/engine/payment/paypal and open up certificate.pem and copy and paste the new certificate data into this file.)
Click save and you're done.
*Note: One possible source of errors is having an incorrect Global Https Url or Global Server Path in your Global Cart Settings.
